Inari Bombs

Inari bombs have been one of my favorite snack bites over the past. Each bite instantaneously takes me back to Poipu Beach watching huge family of sea turtles swim to the shore and relax while the girls snorkeled and saw so many cool fishies. With the leftover sushi rice and salmon and imitation crab mixture from the sushi cake, I made eazy and delicious Inari Bombs!

Inari bombs consist of sushi rice stuffed inside a pouch of seasoned, fried tofu called inariage. The tofu pouch is typically sweet and savory, adding a unique flavor to the sushi. Then, it is loaded with your favorite sushi toppings and ingredients. Super flexible!

I’m so happy to find Seasoned Fried Bean Curd at my local 99 Ranch to make this anytime.

Ingredients:
2 packages Seasoned Fried Bean Curd/ Ajitsuke Inari Age
Sushi rice
Salmon Crab Mix
Poke
Tobiko
Furikake Rice Seasoning

Unagi Sauce

Sriracha sauce

Sushi Rice Ingredients:
3-4 cups cooked sushi rice
1/2 cup rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

Salmon Crab Mix Ingredients:
1/2 pound roasted Salmon Filet
1/2 pound imitation crab, thawed
1 cup Kewpie Japanese Mayonnaise
1/4 cup Sriracha sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

Make Salmon and Imitation Crab Mixture – Broil salmon filets in a toaster oven for 12 minutes. In a large bowl, add all the salmon and crab mixture ingredients and mix until well combined.

Make Inari Bombs – Stuffed seasoned fried bean curd with a heaping tablespoon of sushi rice. Top the sushi rice with heaping tablespoon of salmon and crab mixture. Sprinkle the Inari bombs with furikake seasoning and drizzle with Unagi/Sushi Sauce and Sriracha.

Tips:

  • You can literally stuff these inari bombs with any toppings you like. I’ve used poke, spam, and even canned tuna mixed with mayo and sriracha. The options are endless
  • I bought the packages from the frozen section of my local 99 Ranch Supermarket. I’ve seen a canned version too, but have not tried that.
  • For an extra crunch, serve with sliced jalapenos and/or sliced cucumbers.
