Stir Fry Pea Shoots

Every time we eat at Chinese Restaurants, I hate ordering stir-fried pea shoots with garlic because it’s usually about $20 a plate, but it’s so tasty, delicious, and necessary to balance out all the other yummy dishes ordered. It’s also a veggie dish that the girls really enjoy eating too, so it’s all good.

The great news is that Stir-Fry Pea Shoots with Garlic is pretty inexpensive and eazy to make at home. I buy a fresh bag from my local 99 Ranch and just make it with a few simple ingredients. It’s great when paired with at least another savory dish and enjoyed with steamed rice!

Ingredients:
2 pounds pea shoots, washed
8-10 garlic cloves, smashed
2 tablespoons cooking oil
½ teaspoon salt, more to taste
¼ teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon sugar

Steps:

Stir-fry Pea Shoots – Add smashed garlic and cooking oil to a cold skillet/wok. Heat a large skillet/wok on medium-high heat for about 3 minutes or until garlic begins to brown. Add pea shoots and stir fry for about 3 more minutes or until the pea shoots become tender, but still have a little crunch.

Tips:

  • If Pea Shoots aren’t available, other greens like bok choy, water spinach, spinach, or other leafy greens work great for it as well.
  • I like to start the garlic in a cold pan so it can soften and not burn too quick.
