Roasted Crab

For Valentine’s Day, I made the iconic Crustacean/Thanh Long inspired roasted crab and smothered the crab with the most amazing peppery and buttery garlic butter sauce. I roasted the crab in the @traegergrills but the oven works great too.

Large pre-steamed Dungeness crab at Costco that was $4.99/lb. I couldn’t pass it up. I spent than $50 for four crabs and all the ingredients needed and paired the yummy roasted crab with garlic noodles. We enjoyed ourselves an intimate gourmet dinner at home with the girls and still so delish.

For my friends doing Lent, this is the perfect Friday Eatz!!

Ingredients:
2 large Dungeness crab, steamed
2 sticks of unsalted butter
24 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons coarse black pepper
2 teaspoons sugar

Steps:

Prepare Butter- Melt the butter and cook the garlic down over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes. Season the garlic butter with fish sauce, pepper, and sugar.

Prepare Crab – Remove the top shell of the crab. Clean and cut the body of the crab in half. Drizzle as much peppery butter sauce over the halved body of the crabs as you like.

Roast Crab – Roast the crabs in a 350 degree oven or grill for 30 minutes. Brush on additional butter on the top shell and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Save time by buying pre-steamed crab from your local grocery store.
  • When buying pre-steamed crab from the store, buy the heaviest crabs you can find.
