Bánh Mì Sliders

For the weekend’s Game Day and Tet (Lunar New Year) Celebrations, I combined two of my favorite party foods.. burger sliders and Bánh Mì sandwiches and made juicy Bánh Mì Sliders. Although my team lost the big game, I enjoyed all the quality time and yummy food with the family.

These flavor-packed sweet and savory has the grilled pork flavors and sandwiched between delicious King’s Hawaiian slider buns. Cooking it on a flat top grill gave it uniform crust and color, sealing in all the flavors, and it tasted great!

Slider Patty Ingredients:
2 pounds ground pork
1 pound ground beef
2 shallots, finely minced
8 garlic cloves, finely minced
⅓ cup fish sauce
⅓ cup honey
3 tablespoons Maggi Seasoning
1 tablespoon sugar
2.5 teaspoons black pepper
1.5 teaspoons five-spice powder

Slider Ingredients:
24 King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns
24 2.5-ounce pork patties
Kewpie Mayo
Maggi Seasoning
Pickled Carrots and Daikon
Sliced jalapeño
Sliced cucumber
Cilantro
Fried Shallots
Scallion oil

Steps:

Make Slider Patties – In a medium/large bowl, combine all the slider patty ingredients. Form 2 to 2.5 ounce patties, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Grill Slider Patties – Grill slider patties on a flat top grill over medium to medium-low heat for 4-5 minutes a side until the internal temperature is 165 degrees.

Assemble Bánh Mì Sliders – Toast slider buns. Assemble the Bánh Mì Sliders with Bánh Mì toppings and enjoy.

Tips:

  • I used pork and beef for this recipe. I think the beef gives it more texture, but use whatever combination you like.
  • You can grill or pan fry the patties however you like
  • The honey and sugars will caramelize and burn quickly if you cook on high heat, so cook it over medium to medium-low heat depending on how hot your cooking device gets.
  • I like to put cooked patties in a baking dish to collect all the juices so I can mix it all up before assembling the sliders.
  • If you want to make actual burgers, form 4 ounce patties.
